Programme:
Wagner, Parsifal: Prelude
Elgar, The Dream of Gerontius
Royal Albert Hall Programme Note:
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and its new Music Director, Vasily Petrenko, return to the Royal Albert Hall in 2022 with a series of British Choral Masterworks, featuring a sensational line-up of soloists and the Philharmonia Chorus.
Let the energy of live orchestral music captivate you in what promises to be an awe-inspiring choral concert, which opens with Wagner’s Prelude to his opera Parsifal – a three-act work, loosely based upon the quest for the Holy Grail.
As the sonorous warmth of orchestral sound fills the Hall, sit back and enjoy one the most celebrated choral works of the twentieth century: Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius. With impassioned solos and a rich symphonic tapestry, this mighty choral work will exhilarate and invigorate in equal measure.
