Since his appearance in April 2019 in the Elgar concerto, Kian Soltani has come a long way. The former principal cellist of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra (the orchestra where Daniel Barenboim brings together musicians from Israel and neighboring Arab countries) has expanded his career from the United States to Japan and made the most of his exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon. He has also developed a bond with Vasily Petrenko, the music director of London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, that will work wonders in this little gem of grace and good humor that is Haydn’s First Concerto . Then, we will be ready to dive into the colorful tableaux of Manfred , a sort of Tchaikovsky counterpart to Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique .
