Maison de la Radio et de la Musique – Radio France Programme Note:
After the First , played on October 22, here comes Shostakovich’s Second Violin Concerto , also dedicated to David Oïstrakh, and performed as part of the complete concertos of the Russian composer imagined by the Philharmonic Orchestra. It will take place here at the heart of an entirely Russian program which will allow you to hear a symphonic poem by Glazunov, Stenka Razine , inspired by the life of a heroic Cossack, in which we will recognize the theme of the Boatmen of the Volga . As for Quasi hoquetus , it is an astonishing score for bassoon, viola and piano in which Sofia Goubaïdoulina takes up the serial technique with great imagination.
