Pablo Barragán, clarinet
Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León

PROGRAMME
Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A Major, K. 622
Bruckner: Symphony No. 6 in A Major

VENUE NOTE
As in Program No. 8, Vienna pulsates in the works of Subscription No. 10, but this time from a single evolutionary leap. Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto is one of his most famous works, and with good reason: the genius from Salzburg found heights of melodic inspiration that seem out of this world. Bruckner also achieved peak moments in Symphony No. 6, such as the coda of the first movement, probably his most moving symphonic passage.

Vasily Petrenko already gave a lesson in personality and style with Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4 , which he brought to the Granada Festival in 2024, so much is expected of this Sixth Symphony . Building on his history of collaborations with Spanish artists, he will accompany clarinetist Pablo Barragán in this extremely difficult concertante work. He has performed solo at the Lucerne Festival and collaborated with musicians of the caliber of Emmanuel Pahud, Thomas Dausgaard, and Daniel Barenboim.
